About Suwa Diriya

Our mission is to empower every Sri Lankan with the knowledge, support, and hope they need to face cancer. We believe that language should never be a barrier to understanding your health.

💛 Our Story

Suwa Diriya was founded by Pasindu Liyanage, a prominent AI Architect in Sri Lanka, after his mother was diagnosed with cancer. When he received the news, he was devastated. He spent countless hours researching treatments, understanding medical terms, and finding the best care options in Sri Lanka. He realized that thousands of Sri Lankan families go through the same overwhelming experience — searching for reliable information in their own language, not knowing what questions to ask, and feeling completely lost. Pasindu decided to channel that pain into purpose. With the clinical guidance and support of Dr. Shama Goonatillake, one of Sri Lanka's most respected Senior Consultant Clinical Oncologists at Asiri Surgical Hospital, he built Suwa Diriya — a free, trilingual cancer awareness platform designed to be the guide he wished he had when his mother was diagnosed. This is more than a website. It's a community built from love, for every family navigating the cancer journey in Sri Lanka.

🎯 Our Vision

A Sri Lanka where no one faces cancer alone — where every person has access to clear information in their language, knows what steps to take, and finds a community of hope and support.

This Initiative

Suwa Diriya was initiated by Dr. Shama Goonatillake, Senior Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Asiri Surgical Hospital, to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and public understanding. Through clear, compassionate, and accessible information in Sinhala, English, and Tamil, we aim to reduce fear and save lives through early detection.
